The Fair Grove Middle School Boys Basketball team returned for their 2023-2024 season following a 10-1 season from the previous year.
The Fair Grove Middle School Basketball team started off their season with a win against Clever Middle School. Ryan Highstreet, the coach of the middle school basketball team and social studies teacher, stated, “Hopes are to continue teaching and reinforcing to these guys the Fair Grove style of play and philosophies.”
Assistant coach Zachary Snodgrass, a physical education teacher in the middle school, also said that his hopes are to get better this season. He stated that they plan to get better while they go through the season while at the same time truly enjoying the game.
The basketball team is looking for things to improve on from last season. Snodgrass stated, “We’re getting the team ready by really focusing on our weaknesses more than our strengths. We always try to have quality practices to fix issues with our game.”
According to Highstreet, work needs to be done on the little things to improve. He also stated that he will have them work on paying attention to the details on the court.
The middle school basketball team has a few different people on their starting line up. Ryan Highstreet stated that for most of the time their starting players will be Easton Highfill, McKlain Moore, Talon Skouby, Dude Mallard, Austin Azeez, Gavin Strong, Logan Wilson.
Snodgrass has stated that they have a team full of committed players within their team. He also stated that they are well equipped to help out the team during the game.
They have an upcoming conference tournament that the team is looking forward to. Highstreet said, “Conference Tournament so we can see how much improvement we have made and with the hopes of taking the championship.”
They will also be looking forward to playing their rival Strafford. Snodgrass said that they always look forward to playing their rival Strafford. He also stated that they will be treating each as a new and exciting challenge.
Following winter break, the Fair Grove Middle School Boys Basketball team continued to play their regular season. According to Ryan Highstreet they will be played against Forsyth on 1/4, Buffalo on 1/8, and Strafford on 1/9.
