On December 18 and 19, the Fair Grove third graders performed their Christmas program, Crazy Carols. Cindy Sparks took part instructing and leading the third graders throughout the program.
In the program the third graders performed various carols with a bit of a twist, with each student having to perform their own lines in front of the audience. The program Crazy Carols takes traditional carols and gives them crazy words. For example, Deck the Halls, became Clean the Halls, and Good King Wenscelas became Our Good Principal.
Crazy Carols, which had been performed a few years prior by Sparks, was only brought back in 2023 for its enjoyable and entertaining rehearsal process and performance. “We did this program a few years ago and it was so much fun that we decided to do it again,” explained Sparks.
Maelynn Calton (3) and Mahala Calton (3), were performers in the program and they gave their opinion and their experiences about the program. “I thought the program was really fun,” said Maelynn, “we got to change the carols and make them funnier.” Furthermore Mahala added, “It was really fun. I liked singing with my friends.”
The carols were sung to tell stories on Christmas but the crazy carols were performed to bring joy and laughter to parents and guests at the program. “I love seeing the students get to perform in front of their families and the rest of the school,” stated Sparks.
These third graders worked and practiced every special class to prepare for their performance. “It was fun to practice. I hope we do another one soon,” commented Mahala.
In their performance they used fun props like books and bags and also performed choreography during the songs. “I was nervous when I had to speak into the microphone, but I think we did pretty good.”
