Fine Arts Night is an artistic and music showcase where talented students had their art displayed in the hallways of the Fair Grove Middle School Commons on Friday, May 10th.
“The Fine Arts Night is going to be a compilation of our fine arts departments: Art, Choir, and Band. It will be a district wide K-12th showing of art works. There will be a fifth grade choir program, along with the high school jazz band also playing throughout the evening,” Stephanie Brown, the high school art teacher explained.
Natalie Palomo, the Fair Grove High School and Middle School band teacher said why she was excited for the show, “I’m excited to showcase the fine arts department in a different way than we’ve been able to before!”
Brown is passionate about the fine arts departments. She commented, “I am incredibly proud of my students and the hard work that they have put into their art this year. I am excited that so many others will now get to appreciate the really talented kids that we have at Fair Grove.”
Brown continued, “I think sometimes the arts get overlooked and maybe even a little under appreciated, so I am hoping this evening will shed some light on the really neat things we are accomplishing throughout the school year. I also hope that if anyone did not understand the hype of our art departments, they will now. That goes for our music departments as well!”
Also, Brown explained what else would be at the event. The night of the event they had multiple types of art projects on display from drawings, paintings, fibers, sculptures, to ceramics. The fifth grade music program performed after the jazz band played their songs for the night.
There were a lot of art pieces on display from throughout middle and high school. Students have made projects all year and Brown and Kezia Price , the middle school art teacher, picked some pieces from each student to put in the art show.
“It is hard to say just how many pieces will be on display, but it will be a lot! Every student that has taken an art class this school year in grades k-12 will have at least one piece in the show. Some students, like drawing and painting and advanced art might have a couple,” Brown said.
Brown said that she has wanted to do an art show for high school for a while now. She explained, “I have always wanted to have a high school art show to be able to display our talented students’ work to our parents and community. We have talked about putting this together for a couple of years now, but finally made the time to plan and organize the show this year.
“We are really hoping our parents, guardians, and community will come out and support and enjoy some of the amazing art that will be on display,” Brown concluded.
Fine Arts night was packed, with friends and family of students showing up to see the artwork and the music.
