Fair Grove Middle School Art Club, held every Thursday after school from 3:45 to 4:30 in Mrs. Price’s room, is open to all Fair Grove Middle School students.

The Middle School Art Club is led by Kezia Price, the Fair Grove Middle School art teacher. All middle school students, 5th to 8th grade, are welcomed to join the middle school art club, regardless of artistic ability.

If a middle school student wishes to join the middle school art club, they simply show up to Price’s classroom after school between 3:45 to 4:30 and begin to work. Price described how the art club attendees go about completing their work by stating, “the students plan out their own projects by completing an art project proposal which has to be approved by me before they start. Some students work on one project the entire year, some collaborate with their friends for a group project, and some complete multiple projects in one session.”

In the club, there are currently four centers including sculpture, drawing, painting, and collage. Returning attendees are welcome to work and create projects in any of the centers, while newcomers must begin at one center and move throughout all of the centers learning how to work with the supplies and ensure the area and supplies are properly cleaned and taken care of. Newcomers must begin in the drawing center, then they may move onto the painting center, and then the sculpture center, and finally collage. When they have finished going through all the centers and learning, they are welcome to work in any center.

Teyha Neighbors (5) stated, “I like being able to talk to my friends during crafting and doing a project that I can work on and take my time on.” Not only does the middle school art club present students with an opportunity to be artistic and create masterpieces outside of school, it also presents attendees with a chance to further socialize with their friends, and even make new friends.

Continuing on that, Brooklyn Lord (5) stated, “my favorite part of being in Art Club is that we can do whatever project we want, and talking with friends while doing projects is very fun.”

Fair Grove Middle School Art Club is open to all middle school students wishing to express themselves in an artistic way; the students are welcome to join every Thursday in Mrs. Price’s classroom after school from 3:45 to 4:30.
