On May 12th, the Fair Grove Kindergarten class will have their graduation ceremony, celebrating their progress and year as they move on to first grade. The ceremonies will be separate, with the first happening at 5:30pm and the second happening at 7pm.
The kindergarten teachers had many memories and obstacles with their students, but still helped them grow academically and personally throughout the school year. Catrina Gore, one of the five kindergarten teachers, stated, “It’s bitter sweet. I feel that it’s a fun way to say goodbye, and also beneficial for teachers, students, and parents/families to wrap up the year with love, fun, and even tears.”
Toni Robertson, another kindergarten teacher, added, “One of my favorite things about teaching this year has been watching those lightbulb moments when things start to click, especially with reading and writing.”
Even the students have felt the love and excitement that happens when graduation comes up. McKenna Tice (K) stated, “I’m very excited for kindergarten graduation!”
At the ceremony there will be performances by the students and words from the teachers. Gore explained, “We usually separate our five kindergarten classes with two performances. It’s usually set up with students singing on stage, and teachers sharing a short and sweet message at the end about how much we have enjoyed our year with their babies!”
Victoria Hillard (K), explained her favorite things about kindergarten, “My favorite things about kindergarten have been Mrs. Gore, dancing, doing GoNoodle, and listening to the song “Golden” from K-Pop Demon Hunters.” RJ Harmon (K) added, “I love recess and playing with my friend James and everyone gets to chase us!”
The Fair Grove kindergarten class has a very big day ahead of them. After graduation, these kindergarteners will be ready to grow and move onto first grade.
