On March 30th, the Fair Grove Middle School Track team had their first meet, officially beginning their 2025-2026 season. This season the team is run by Head Coach’s Jalen Supancic and Kayley Frank.
Track is full of many different events for students to participate in. These events range from throwing events like shot put and discus, running events such as the 100, 200, and 800 meter dash, and field events like triple jump and pole vault.
Due to the amount of events, this year the coaches are taking a different approach when practicing for meets. Supancic explained, “This year, we are breaking up our athletes into sprints, distance, throws and field events so that our athletes receive more individualized attention that is directed towards the events they might have success in, or in events that they are new to and wanting to learn more about.”
Supancic stated how this approach has improved students understandment of their event, “This season, our kiddos have been able to spend more time with coaches that know and understand their event. This allows our high school coaches to work with them as well and develop relationships that should last beyond Middle School.”
This is the first year Frank is coaching track. With her new arrival, she’s given many new ideas and expertise to the team. Frank explained another change to this season, “This year we have our middle schoolers working out with the high schoolers, which has helped them get more individualized work.”
Supancic expressed his excitement for this season, “I’m excited to see how much our athletes continue to improve. They are working extremely hard and they are already starting to see results from that.” He continued, “Anytime you can see athletes put in the work and experience success, it is an awesome feeling that is great to witness. It will be fun to see where they end up at the end of the season!”
Supancic described his love for track, “I have loved getting to work with our middle school athletes. They are great kids and are super fun to coach! I have also really enjoyed getting to see their early season success as well.”
The next middle school track meet will be the Fair Grove home meet on April 29th. Frank stated what she’s looking forward to for the rest of the season, “I’m looking forward to seeing these kids grow and become more confident in their events.”
