Nico Jenkins (12) is a senior at Fair Grove High School and has been in a variety of different clubs and has done countless theater productions. Jenkins is getting prepared for their life now since they’ve graduated.
Being very engaged in the school, Jenkins participates in Speech and Debate (president), Theatre, National Honor Society, Student Council (Publicity Manager), and PROUD (president). Outside of school, Jenkins spends most time working on projects for their extracurricular activities and spending time with friends.
Cooper Zumwalt (Class of ‘23), a Fair Grove High School alumni and one of Jenkins’ longtime friends stated, “From a friend’s perspective, I would describe Nico as empathetic, hard-working, and helpful. He gives his 100% in everything he does and goes above and beyond in helping anyone who needs it.”
Jenkins has used their kind and positive attitude in a lot of ways and has positively impacted many others as well. Mackenzie Cavin (12) said, “Nico is a good friend of mine and a role model. He has helped me improve my acting, and shown me what a good leader in Theatre is supposed to be like.”
Cheyenne Todd (9) talked about one of her favorite memories with Jenkins, “…during our fall performance, The Outsiders, Nico and I bonded so much…Nico is a wonderful person and a person who I look up to tremendously.”
Zumwalt also revisited some memories with Jenkins, “One of my favorite memories with Nico would have to be traveling with him all over the U.S. this past summer…we went to New York and explored the city together, staying busy exploring Little Italy and watching Broadway shows.
Zumwalt added, “Then, literally the day after, we were on our way to Phoenix, Arizona, for the National Speech and Debate Tournament. There, we spent the week competing, bonding, and having fun.”
Being a senior in high school, Jenkins has had time to learn some valuable life lessons. When asked about the lessons they’ve learned throughout their school career, they answered, “I have learned how important it is to adapt to change quickly and effectively.”
As their senior year came to an end, Jenkins has begun to apply for scholarships and has been building their audition portfolio. They plan on attending Missouri State University this fall, majoring in Speech Education and Theatre. They also hope to get involved with Springfield Contemporary Theatre and Marshfield Community Theatre.
Jenkins’ positive and hard-working attitude has and will continue to leave a lasting impression on Fair Grove High School.
