On December 11th, Fair Grove’s Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) and Distributive Education Clubs of America (DECA) club, hosted a charity men’s volleyball tournament for an Angel Tree family.
Quincy Williams (11) was a coach for one of the teams in the Manpuff fundraiser. Williams said, “My favorite part about coaching ManPuff was the environment. It was so much fun and also very funny at certain times.”
FBLA and DECA had to organize and make a schedule for the whole event. Atticus Brandes (12), Co-President of FBLA, stated that their officer team has been preparing a lot for the event.
The officer team had to do a multitude of things to get done for the set up of the ManPuff fundraiser. Brandes said, “We outline the rules of the game and correlate the officials that are needed. We also have a great group of volunteers that help us out a lot.”
ManPuff can be a very competitive fundraiser for all the students involved. Brandes stated that he enjoys competing in the ManPuff games. He said that the senior class is ultra competitive. He takes joy from beating the other boys in his grade.
There was one thing that the coaches would like to change for the next year of ManPuff. Williams said, “The only thing I would change next year if I did it again would be the schedule. I feel like it should’ve started earlier because there were times where everything felt very rushed.”
Leila Huff (11) was another coach for one of the ManPuff teams. She stated that she wished that there was enough time to schedule a practice so they could have been more prepared for the games. She added that if they had that time it would have helped the players a lot.
Huff said, “It was a lot of fun and I really enjoyed getting to know the boys more and talking to some of them I hadn’t talked to in a long time. It was hilarious watching the boys play a sport they’ve never done before.”
Williams said that she enjoyed coaching a ManPuff team. She found that it was both fun and chaotic to coach.
Students at Fair Grove High School enjoy playing in the ManPuff volleyball fundraiser. Brandes said, “Students have a fun time playing ManPuff at our school.” Brandes also stated that all of the proceeds that they generate from ManPuff go to the FBLA and DECA Angel Tree family.
