Nikki Kisling is a veteran teacher at Fair Grove High School and teaches Algebra 2, College Algebra, and Pre-Calculus.
Kisling has been a teacher at Fair Grove for quite some time. She said that she has been teaching in the district for 13 years and she has been teaching mathematics for all of that time.
Susanne Feldman is one of Kisling’s coworkers at Fair Grove High School. She said, “She has been a great coworker that I can rely on to work through challenges with and she is always upbeat and positive.”
Kisling has had lots of students over the years. Her student Wes Hart (11) has had her for two years. He has taken the classes Algebra 2 and Pre-Calculus with her.
Hart said, “My favorite part of having Mrs. Kisling as a teacher is that she is willing to help you figure it out, you just need to be willing to stay after school and work with her on the more difficult topics and sections.”
Kisling has made multiple memories during her time at Fair Grove High School. She stated, “My favorite memory of being a teacher is from my 6th hour Algebra 2 class last year. I was in the middle of teaching a lesson and I said the phrase, ‘I want’ and my class finished the phrase by singing ‘it that way.’ They then continued singing the Backstreet Boys song, ‘I Want It That Way.’”
Feldman said, “I always enjoy the way she is up for anything, from teachers doing silly dances at assemblies, to her being tricked into riding Time Traveler during the STEAM Days at Silver Dollar City, she’s always game for trying new things.”
Kisling also stated how her favorite part of being a teacher is the relationships she builds with students. She enjoys helping them achieve their goals in life by taking classes that would be beneficial to them in college. She also loves having the summers off to spend time with her three children.
Kisling is also the sponsor of FTA (Future Teachers of America). She said, “I love that we are able to support our high school teachers with small gifts of appreciation throughout the school year. I also love keeping up with the kids that do decide to be teachers.”
Kisling is a hard working teacher that always cares for her students. Feldman said, “Our students are exceptionally lucky to have a teacher like Mrs. Kisling. So many of them don’t realize the time, energy and effort she puts towards all the work she does and the number of extra hours she dedicates to tutoring students.”
