Recently, at Fair Grove High School, the golf team finished their regular season and had several members compete at the state tournament.
Golf and basketball coach Bryan Tucker explained that they did not have many issues through the season. “It was a great season,” said Tucker. He claimed that the biggest accomplishment they achieved as a team was Atticus Brandes (12) and Blake Baxter (10) both earning a trip to the state tournament.
Tucker explained that throughout the season, he hopes to see his athletes enjoy the game of golf and improve. Tucker added, “Our kids were really fun to be around and I enjoyed them all.”
Finnegan Harp (10) joined the golf team for the first time this year. Harp said, “I originally chose to join the golf team because of Blake Baxter, we would golf at the Betty and Bobby Allison par three course just for fun on the weekends. When I found out that coach Tucker is also the golf coach I decided it would be fun to play in tournaments and have free golf for a month.”
Harp stated that he expected the golf experience to be fun and electric. Harp said, “Being able to go mess around with friends after school and be outdoors just sounded like a great idea. After my first practice I knew my expectations would be met and golf has been so much fun since the first day.”
Baxter and Brandes competed at the state golf tournament on Monday May 19th and Tuesday May 20th. Brandes placed 43rd and Baxter placed 90th.
