Powder Puff was October 1st, 2025. This year was an “OG throwback” theme. White beat Purple 18 to 6. Powder Puff is considered a Pep Rally for Homecoming, as it can be a fun event that students and community members can attend.
FBLA runs Powder Puff, run by teacher advisors Jalen Supancic and Cayse Overstreet. Girls play a two team football game and the boys are the cheerleaders for the game. Both cheerleaders and football players will have coaches. The White team coaches were Carson Trussell (12), Dylan George (12), and Adrick Wilson (12). The Purple team coaches were Cayden Hartnett (12), Jackson Austin (12), and Jakoeby McDannald (12).
Addyson Nunley (12) stated, “This year we are trying to make the game more competitive by drafting teams instead of assigning players to each team. We hope that a more competitive game will draw in more of a crowd. We also want the participants to have fun! That is really what this event is all about is having fun and we hope that everyone will walk away with fun memories.”
The boys dress up in old school cheer uniforms, while the girls dress up in football jerseys and play a game of flag football. The game is two quarters, 15 minutes each. There was a 10 minute halftime where the boys performed their halftime performance.
Brylee Mallard (11) commented, “This year will be themed OG FG which brought down the price for participation which will hopefully bring more students to participate both volunteering and playing.”
Haylee Potter (12) added, “We always hope to increase our attendance every year. We don’t have a specific number, but we do push for everyone playing to invite their family and friends to join us! We also hope that those who aren’t playing come to volunteer or just watch the games.”
Powder Puff is an all student run event, with all positions being filled by members of FBLA. Even the announcers, as this year’s were Trey George (10) and Logan Wilson (10).
Potter explained how the funds for Powder Puff will be given back to the school, “We are planning for our event to be very school spirited as the profits from the event will go back to the students. The funds will be used for the Angel Tree at Christmas to support local students or put into other club related activities.”
