PTO is the Parent Teacher Organization, of which the the president of PTO is Amanda Schwab and the Vice President of PTO is Staci Nunley. The second Vice Presidents are Kasey Sekulic and Kasey Kanuap. According to Amanda Schwab, “The Parent Teacher Organization exists to promote the welfare of our youth and enhance their educational experience by fostering relationships among the school, parents and teachers.” The members work together to raise money for things the regular school budget can not always provide.

The PTO has put on many events throughout the 2017-2018 school year. Some events they have hosted are the Annual Back to School Bash, Culvers Night Fundraisers, Sold Apparel, the Mother-Son Olympics, Grandparents Day, Candy Grams, and many more. Some upcoming events are the Annual Carnival, Read-a-Thon, Father Daughter Dance, Valentines and more.

Schwab said the money they raise throughout the year is saved in their bank account, then they vote on where the funds will be spent. “Teachers and Staff submit request for items, and Faculty weighs in on the importance of the need,” stated Schwab. One of the Parent Teacher Organizations goal is to raise awareness of the importance of parent involvement in the student’s success. Schwab stated, “Involvement not only makes kids more successful, but then will also strengthen our community.”

There are 80 members in PTO, although not all the members involved are active, they participate in many different ways. Being a member of PTO helps your child be more successful. It also allows you to be more involved in your children’s school life. According to the PTO website, in order to be in the PTO you have to be over the age of 18 or have a child attending Fair Grove Schools. Dues will be set for the following school year in the July Executive Meeting. Memberships are effective from August 1st through July 31st of the following year.
