Manpuff is an event held by Fair Grove Future Business Leaders (FBLA) and Distributive Education Clubs of America (DECA), where boys from grade 9-12 play volleyball to raise money.
The admission to Manpuff was a minimum of a one dollar donation. Cayse Overstreet (FBLA/DECA Advisor) said, “This event raises money for a local Fair Grove family to help cover the cost of Christmas presents.”
Fair Grove HIgh School boys who signed up and learned how to play the game, while Fair Grove’s Volleyball girls taught and coached the boys through practices and through the game itself. Addyson Nunnely (10) said, “I coached Manpuff. I definitely would coach again. I was on Sleigh the Day Away.”
Boys who played the game expressed why they signed up and how they would probably play the event again if given the chance. Eron Daugherty (9), explained, “It was fun to play against my friends and brother,” and then said that he does, in fact, plan on playing Manpuff next year.
Carter Roy (11) commented, “I participated because I love the goofy competitive nature behind it,” he also added, “I will definitely play manpuff again, the next one will be my senior year.”
Nolan Geitz (11) said, ” I was on the Sus Slayyy Riders,” then went on and said, “I like playing sports and being able to play a sport I rarely play (volleyball) with my friends was an awesome opportunity.”
The boys and coaches shared their favorite part of the event. Luke Engel (11) said, “My favorite part was just playing volleyball with a fun group of guys.”
Geitz expressed, “Just spending time with my friends, being goofy, and having fun while also raising money for an angel tree family!”
For Atticus Brandes (11), who was a part of the winning team, he stated, “My favorite part was never losing a set against the other teams.”
Manpuff was held December 6th, and seemed to be successful by those who played and attended. Team “Sus Slayyy Riders” were the winning team of the night.
