On Saturday January 18th, Fair Grove High School will be hosting their official courtwarming dance at the lower elementary school gym from 7-10 pm.
Student Body President, Keith Nolan (12), explained that the student council is doing a lot to prepare for the upcoming dance. “We have chosen a theme, and now we are separating into committees and starting the process of making spirit weeks and assemblies.”
Student Council Publicity Chair, Hannah Schwab (11) stated, “Courtwarming is the most fun dance to prepare for. It always has good reviews from students. We always try our best to have everything looking perfect for this dance.” Schwab also described Courtwarming as more formal than Homecoming with more decorations, and nicer apparel for the students.
Senior Class President, Karlee Marion-Swan (12), explained how the most difficult part of the preparation process was finding a theme that the whole student body would be happy with. “The Student Council wants to make sure that the student body has fun and enjoys the dance.” The theme for the dance will be ‘Meet Me at Midnight.’
The dance will consist of three princesses, and three potential queen candidates, who will be crowned January 17th.
Many students are also excited for the courtwarming crowning ceremony. Courtwarming Princess Audrey Lemon (11) stated, “I started preparing for the dance three weeks ahead to find a long dress and all the accessories, because I am the Junior courtwarming princess and I did not want to wait until the last week to get everything that I needed.”
Courtwarming Queen nominee Brooklyn Williams (12), explained that she is looking forward to wearing her dress and hanging out with her friends. She is also interested in the answers the other nominees had for the questions that were asked to them, that is read during the ceremony.
Students also have many plans for the dance. Williams described that she is excited to have a fun time with her friends. She is going to be getting ready, taking group pictures, and going to dinner with them. Lemon stated that she will also be taking photos with her friends and carpooling to the dance.
Some members of the student council think that even though the process is very difficult, Courtwarming is the most fun dance to prepare for. Schwab stated, “It always has good reviews from students. We always try our best to have everything looking perfect for this dance.”
Aubrie Voorhis (10), is excited about the dance and exclaimed, “I had a lot of fun last year so I’m so excited to do it again.”
The Fair Grove Courtwarming Game will be held January 17th, a day in advance of the dance. The Fair Grove Basketball Boys will face Mount Vernon, starting off in the high school gym, and the courtwarming ceremony will commence before the varsity game.
