The Fair Grove High School Track Team has dominated the 2025 season, by breaking records, and completing each track meet with athleticism.
The track program is led by running coaches Michael Zanzie and Lindsay Martin as well as throwing coach Brian Neumann. The team practices consistently during the weekdays. Runner Gavin Brock (11) said, “We practice every weekday during track season from 3:45 to 5:30, and the coaches make sure that every practice is efficient and effective.”
The track team practices to prepare for their meets. Brock added, “During the normal track season we have seven meets spanning across April and into May. During our off time we are training and fine tuning everything we can to better our performance during a meet.”
In the season so far the team has placed highly. Thrower Elena Wilson (12) said, “There is a lot of potential in our throwing team this year. We have a few very good throwers that place top three in a majority of meets.”
Both Brock and Wilson said the success of the track team is due to the practice the team puts in. Wilson mentioned, “Thrower practices teach me discipline, and forces our players to demonstrate honorable work.”
Track and field can be physically demanding but can also be beneficial for people. Another thrower Jon Peak (11) stated, “The track program has let me grow by encouraging me to compete and pushing me to do so. The practices push me and make me feel beneficial afterwards.”
Each season of track and field lets athletes track their personal growth and set goals for themselves. Brock mentioned, “My current goal in track is to work towards beating my existing record in the 110 hurdles. I also want to improve on my 200 meter time for the 4 by 2 relay race.”
Multiple athletes within the program have their own personal goals and track them. Wilson said, “My goal is to improve myself in throwing javelin and have a fun last bit of senior year.” As well, Peak spoke of his goal to improve his personal records.
The track and field team has been practicing since the beginning of the year and are using their hard work to compete. Brock said, “I feel that practicing in track improves something every time no matter how big or small it is. Each time I finish a meet I am able to find something that I did better.”
Kellen Lair (12), Canyon Crowley (12), Carson Trussel (11), and Adrick Wilson (11), broke the Fair Grove High School record for the 4×1 with a time of 42.26 seconds. Practice shows to be paying off for the track team, and much accomplishments are yet to be done by the track Fair Grove Eagles.
