The Fair Grove Volleyball team is gearing up for districts after yet another conference championship. The Lady Eagles essentially sealed the deal with a big win over Strafford in three sets, but weren’t officially the conference champs until they beat Stockton on October 14th.  This means that the Lady Eagles, under coach Tonya Peck, have been crowned conference champs nine times in the last 14 school years. The Eagles have had a good season thus far, with an overall record of 23-1-6, but they are looking to improve going into post-season play. “We are constantly working to make our side better, and always trying to be a step above our opponents,” said coach Peck. Senior Hallie Merisotes also commented on the subject, saying “We’re working on playing better as a team, and always being ready defensively.”

Both Peck and Merisotes said that beating Strafford was their favorite conference win of the season so far. “My favorite conference win was definitely Strafford, because we played awesome as a team and it was one of the best games we’ve played all season,” said Merisotes.

The Lady Eagles are seeded second overall in the district tournament, despite going unbeaten in both conference and district play, with Strafford being seeded first. The Eagles will face Pleasant Hope on Monday, October 20th at 6:30 in their first district game, and if they win that game, will play Tuesday night at 6:30. All district games will take place at Strafford High School.
