The Fair Grove community puts on a farmers market every Wednesday at the Wommack Mill from 3pm to 6pm.
Sandra Meyer, the social media and marketing manager of the farmers market, explained the origins of the farmers market, “The current Market Board didn’t start the Market. It was actually started in 2000, originally under the name “Fair Grove Farmers Market,” a community project that was funded by the Fair Grove Chamber of Commerce.”
The farmers market seeks to assist the vendors and the customers. Meyer stated that the market is striving to strengthen the relationships that they currently have and create new relationships with incoming customers and vendors.
Buying from the farmers market allows you to get more information about the things you buy. Meyer stated, “Locally produced and made means the customer actually knows who made it, who grew it, who raised it. Every vendor at Greater Fair Grove Farmers Market can tell you exactly how something was made, how it was grown, what they used in it, and even why they used or did something for their product.”
Meyer added that buying products at the farmers market helps the local economy grow. She stated that buying locally produced food and handmade goods keeps the money in the local area and communities.
The farmers market has goals for the 2026 season. Meyer stated that they are planning on getting different food trucks for the market days. In addition, they are planning on having more events for kids such as crafting events, coloring contests, and a pumpkin painting contest.
The Fair Grove Farmers Market informational page explained, “It’s the Market’s hope that with you, the Fair Grove and surrounding area communities support these goals and many more can be reached.”
The vendors at the farmers market participate in other markets as well. Meyer said, “I sell at other Farmers Markets and also Ozarks area events throughout the year. The majority of our vendors sell at other Markets too. There are some vendors for which selling at Farmers Markets is their actual livelihood.”
At the farmers market they accept all different types of payment. The Fair Grove Farmers Market information page stated, “The Market accepts debit and credit cards, SNAP cards, Double Up Food Bucks and we also have vendors that can take Senior Nutrition Vouchers.”
The Fair Grove farmers market holds a celebration for all farmers markets every year. The farmers market will be holding their Annual National Farmers Market Week Celebration on Wednesday, August 5th.
