Project Graduation is May 16, after Fair Grove High School Graduation ceremony. This year the event will be held off campus and provide lots of fun activities, food, and prizes for all seniors that participate.
With fundraising opportunities throughout the school year, all Fair Grove seniors and approved chaperones can attend completely free of charge. Kelly Sutherland who is helping with Project Grad said, “All senior parents are encouraged and welcome to attend the monthly Project Grad meetings to help organize and participate in the fundraising events.”
Holley Johnson said, “I am currently serving as Project Grad president. I was nominated by other parents in the group for the role.” She also added that all seniors are also encouraged to go to Project Graduation. Johnson said that this night can mean a lot, with it being the last night as high schoolers. She expressed, “It is a night for the seniors to celebrate their success of graduating high school! It is one last night for them to be together as a group. It is a safe environment that is chaperoned by parents.” \
Sutherland expressed, “This is a fun culminating event for students their senior year. It’s a way to spend time with their senior friends, make memories, while also making a conscious decision to enjoy their graduation night without alcohol or other drugs.”
Fundraising is done throughout the school year. People can donate during events that Project Graduation holds and also whenever they see a stand for Project Graduation, mainly at Fair Grove football games. Johnson said, “Every penny we raise this year in our various fundraisers, goes to support this night.” She added, “Typically the seniors and parents run the fundraisers. We reach out to family members, friends, and businesses to help out in various ways.”
Not only can the seniors participate in helping out with Project Grad, parents and Fair Grove Community can too. Johnson mentioned, “We encourage the entire community to be involved. It is a night for the seniors to celebrate the success of graduating high school!” The community being able to get involved can be helpful when they need extra hands for fundraising.
