On April 21, 2026 Fair Grove High School had their annual farm day. In the agriculture department, there were many animals and farm equipment displayed to teach younger students about life on the farm.
Once a year, the Fair Grove agricultural department forms an educational day for the students of Fair Grove. Members of the Future Farmers of America (FFA) brought their farm animals to the school, and taught elementary and middle school students about their purpose. Some of the animals that were included were a donkey, horse, and a cow. There were also some sheep, ducks, and rabbits.
Each animal had their own area where they could stay for the day. Students then came in their groups with their classes and learned about each animal one group at a time. Students were free to ask as many questions as they desired and were encouraged to learn as much as they could from this FFA event.
Multiple high school students were very involved in farm day. Lexi Angelo (10) brought her dairy calf named Carisma. Angelo stated, “I brought a dairy calf and she was in a pen. I had a tub of water and some hay to keep her happy.” Angelo added, “I taught kids about her, along with Claire Hollan. The kids paid good attention, Carisma loved being outside in the sunshine all day.”
Gunner Pritchett (11) brought his horse Petey. He explained, “I brought my farm animal and I enlightened the younger generation on farm animals.” He added, “You need to keep them involved with several questions and guessing games. while giving them information in between.”
Cole Johnston has been an agriculture teacher at Fair Grove for a long time, and Makayla Piotrowski is a new teacher in the Fair Grove school district. The agriculture teachers on farm day put together this year’s farm day. Having farm day allowed students to learn about things foreign to them, while also keeping things exciting and fun for their young minds.
