Episodes four to seven of Invincible were released March 1st through April 16th on every Wednesday. Each episode was incredible, the main story has advanced so much and has set up the finale extremely well. This season is now the first season we see the Viltrumite War on screen.
To start, episode four was a filler episode for now. In this episode, Mark (Invincible) was sent to Hell to help the demons with a long story issue. It was kind of boring and had little action but it may have set up a future episode. Overall it was filler for now but it was kind of cool to see more Damien Darkblood since it’s been three seasons since we last saw him. His arc is short for now, he’s an investigative demon.
Episode five on the other hand, was one of the greatest episodes I’ve ever seen. We got a Conquest and Mark rematch, which was an insane fight. So much tension, especially after Conquest slandered Mark’s girlfriend. It was super gory though, I’ve never seen anything that graphic in an animated show.
Recent fan, Gavin Strong (10) said, “Episode five was my favorite, the fight was epic and it had a great buildup.” Episode five was our first look at how the Viltrumite War might play out, especially because it’s going to be that lineup this whole time.
Episode six brought the invasion of Telescria by some of the remaining Viltrumites. Mark also reawakens after being knocked out for two months post conquest fight. The invasion failed as the coalition of planets fought off the viltrumites. Thragg wasn’t introduced but we got to see more of him. I haven’t seen him in combat yet which was disappointing but made me look forward to the next episode more.
Big fan, Macklen Johnson (12) said, “My favorite character is Allen, he’s the comic relief but still a dawg.” I do love Allen, he’s very calm and funny even in the heat of battle. Allen didn’t show much power this season though, but I expect him to pull some weight here soon.
Episode 7 was one of the greatest sequences of images I’ve seen in my entire life. We got to see both sides, the Viltrumites and the coalition of planets going at it full force. Thragg fight scenes and no deaths. Except Viltrum, the home of the Viltrumites, was blown up by Omni-Man, Thaedus (the leader of the coalition of planets), and Mark.
It was basically the finale of the season, the true finale didn’t have any fighting and felt more like an epilogue. Although it did set up season 5 because we learn that the Viltrumites are on earth now and blending in with society.
Thragg is my favorite character because he is infinitely stronger than anything we have seen in this show. He’s also quite reasonable, he could’ve destroyed earth but chose to leave them alive. Selfish? Maybe, because he needed humans to repopulate the Viltrumites. Still he left Mark alive when he could’ve killed all of them.
Season 4 was ultimately the best season of Invincible so far. It left little to no loose ends and set up the future really well. Mark got stronger and got closer with his dad (Nolan) again. Oliver met Nolan more and we got a cool side story.
