The NFL recently hosted their annual SuperBowl, and many fans in the Fair Grove area have a lot of opinions on the recent event.
This year the Super Bowl was hosted at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California between the New England Patriots and the Seattle Seahawks. John Hampton is a sophomore at Fair Grove High School and shared, “I thought the game was overall boring and I thought that it was crazy that the kicker [Jason Myers for the Seahawks] scored fifteen points.”
The Super Bowl isn’t always about the game, it’s about the events that happen too. The game starts off with the national anthem. A junior at Fair Grove, Elliot Ackerson stated, “My favorite part of the SuperBowl was the national anthem, which Charlie Puth did an amazing job.”
The Super Bowl also has other events, one of which was the Halftime Show sung by Puerto Rican artist Bad Bunny. Susanne Feldman had mostly positive opinions about this halftime show and stated, “ I thought it was upbeat and had a fun vibe to the music.”
Ackerson also shared his opinion and said, “I thought the halftime show was pretty good, I’m not a huge fan of Bad Bunny, but I thought it was pretty good.”
While some people like Ackerson and Feldman thought that the performance was overall good, some people like Luke Trehal, a senior at Fair Grove, had different opinions about the event stating, “I was disappointed with the Halftime Show. I couldn’t understand anything Bad Bunny was saying because it was all in Spanish. I would rather watch a country singer perform like Chris Stapleton.”
Jacob Ahnen is a freshman at Fair Grove and agrees with Trehal. He stated, “The Halftime show was not my favorite by any means I was not impressed.”
The Super Bowl is also known for its advertisements. Feldman shared, “I feel like many of the ad’s this year took a more sentimental approach rather than trying to be funny.” She added, “I did like several more this year than I have in the past few years.”
Although the Super Bowl is mainly about the game, many people just enjoy the friends they spend this time with. Trehal expressed, “My favorite part of the SuperBowl is getting together with friends. Also the food you eat during the game.”
