The Fair Grove High School Girls Softball team has swung into season competing in a total of 16 games including tournaments. With 13 wins and only three losses, the team has come out strong and held their ground throughout the 2025 season.
Senior Meadow Carter plays second base, outfield, and is one of the team’s upperclassmen leaders. According to Carter, this year’s seniors recognized very early on the importance of taking charge and guiding this year’s team, which is made up mostly of underclassmen. She shared, “Our program has always been highly valued and an expectant culture, and I wanted to make sure to keep it that way by showing leadership to others.”
With lots of dedicated players, there are many role models that the girls pointed out whether for their hard work both on and off the field or for their kindness and compassion. Carter shared how senior Gretta Morris has been her biggest inspiration on the team due to her perseverance and positive influence. “Her energy, positive attitude, and kindness towards me has always allowed me to have a home at Fair Grove Softball. I am very thankful for our friendship.” Right fielder Brenna Boatwright (11), in addition named Brooke Daniels as a role model, noting how she admires her kindness and strong work ethic.
Several members identified Skyline as one of the toughest teams faced this season. Boatwright noted their strong hitting, while sophomore Addison Voorhis talked about the diversity in their pitching. Carter, however, pointed out that their biggest opponents were themselves. “Not playing to our highest ability against teams is our worst enemy, but also positive in a sense that we have room to improve, grow, and overall win. When we do play to our highest ability, we are hard to compete with.”
As the season progresses, players are looking forward to good games and tough challenges. Voorhis mentioned that the team is especially focused on an upcoming game against Diamond. “That game has been the game most of us have been looking forward to just because they are ranked number one in the state and we didn’t get ranked this year, so if we beat them we could really show just how good we are.”
The Fair Grove Softball team has won their conference three times in a row, facing Strafford on April 22, 2025. Now the team looks to their next championship up for grabs, as spring sports advance to the home stretch of their season.
