December 31st is the last day of the calendar year, a time for new developments and personal growth, and it goes by the name New Years Eve.
The “New Year, New You” mentality is all about writing resolutions on how people will try to improve their life in the upcoming year. Senior Gavin Brock stated, “I have a couple resolutions that I continue to pursue each year that are always good rules to follow.” Brock continued, “Personally, I believe that it is in my best interest to work towards being invested in what I like each year, and making sure I stick to it.”
Lots of people make resolutions, but for many people the tricky part is sticking with it. Brock commented, “I believe that a resolution is the starting point, but the idea may change into something bigger as the year goes on.”
Senior Carson Trussell said that this past year he had the goal set to bench 300lbs by the end of the year, a goal he managed to fulfill. He continued by saying that for this next year his goal will be to bench 315lbs.
To celebrate the start of a new year people often go to parties and stay up till midnight. Brock commented, “I think having a New Years party completes the year in a fun way. In the past I have gone to many parties with friends and stayed up to watch as a new year begins.”
As for Fair Grove Seniors, the new year is just one step closer to graduating and earning their diploma. However, students can still have a good time before the year ends. Winter break is a great time for students to relax after taking their first semester finals. During winter break many people celebrate Christmas, a great chance for students to wind down and spend time with family and loved ones.
Following the celebration of the beginning of the new year, Fair Grove School’s students will return to class on January sixth, 2026. Brock commented that in 2026 he will be graduating high school, and then continuing school at college Trussell stated, “I am looking forward to the great opportunities and path that God has prepared for me.”
