Our Fair Grove High Pep Band is prepared to cheer on the Eagles, and bring the purple pride with their spirited music.

Pep Band is designed to play music for halftime games in our school sports, like football, and basketball. The band entertains, and encourages our athletes and fans during an intermission. The musicians learn familiar songs instrumentally, and play the songs for the audience to enjoy.

Brandon Kandlbinder (12), has been the pep band’s drummer now for several years. “I contribute by keeping the band together and making sure we don’t stray away from the tempo of the songs.”

Kandlbinder continued to talk about the importance. “I think the pep band is important to the sports teams because it entertains the crowd when the game is in a timeout, or on a quarter/halftime break.”

Mackenzie Cavin (12), plays the trumpet. “ I enjoy playing so much, I’ve been playing the trumpet for eight years. Music is just something I’ve always known, and participating in things like the pep band gives me more opportunities to play for other people, and to spread music.”

Cam Hart (11), a basketball player, described her past experiences the last three years while playing the sport along with the pep band in the stands. “The pep band is always supportive, and cheering us on and playing for our fans while we have timeouts, and most importantly halftime”

The first few games the pep band played at, was the Fair Grove Girls Basketball Invitational. The band played part of the tournament, to open up the band’s brand new season, and along with the girls new basketball season as well.

Lee Van Cleave (10) described the culture of Fair Grove Pep Band, “Pep bands are important since they’re a tradition and they bring more excitement to the game with the music they play, especially our band.” Van Cleave added, “Each person in the pep band contributes in multiple ways, everybody plays their parts of the music so it sounds good, and everybody encourages our team during the game.”

The upcoming dates for the Pep Band schedule are December 15th, 18th, and many through January and February. The band mostly plays at home games, to bring the purple pride in our gym.

Pep band allows Fair Grove to once again come together as a community, and cheer on the student body athletes, along with continuing the tradition of showing their abilities again and again.
