The Fair Grove R-X school district proudly welcomed Debby Gettle into its pre-k program this school year. Gettle is currently in her first year at Fair Grove, bringing three years of teaching experience to the district.
Gettle attended Missouri State University, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education. She shared that she plans to continue her education in the future. Gettle stated, “I plan to get my master’s in the near future.” Her background in early childhood education has helped prepare her to work with young students and support their learning.
Gettle said she chose Fair Grove because of the welcoming environment. Gettle explained, “I chose Fair Grove because it feels like home.” Gettle added that the school and community played a large role in her decision. Gettle continued, “The people, the kids, my co-workers, and the families can’t be found anywhere else.”
Coworkers in the pre-k program described Gettle as a positive addition to the team. Pre-k teacher Kim Boatwright stated, “Mrs. Gettle is so sweet and helpful. Mrs Gettle is very easygoing and always has a smile on her face.”
Boatwright also shared a personal memory involving Gettle’s family. She added, “My sweetest memory of her is having her oldest son Mason in pre-k. Mason is now in 6th grade.” She continued, “ I loved watching the Gettle family grow.”
Ashley Lederich, another member of the pre-k team, said Gettle fits in well with the staff. “She is a wonderful team player and she joined our pre-k team this year and it feels like we’ve been together for years,” she stated. Lederich added, “My favorite memories with her are just spending time with her this year.”
Peers also highlight Gettle’s qualities as an educator. Boatwright said, “Mrs. Gettle is kind and patient with her class. She greets her in the morning with a smile and a hug.” Lederich added that Gettle is “…kind, energetic, caring, patient, empathetic, respectful, and a great listener.”
Outside of school, Gettle enjoys spending time with her family. She explained that she also enjoys being with her husband Ryan and their four children, Mason, Maddy, Mylee, and Marshall. She added, “We love to be outside on our farm every chance we get.” Gettle also loves baking, walking, and working out.
As her first year at Fair Grove continues, Gettle looks forward to continuing building relationships with her students and co-workers.
