As spring sports continue at Fair Grove High School, the Eagle’s High School Girls Soccer team continues to advance through their games striving for a successful season.

The Fair Grove High School Girls Soccer Team has started practices and already have had their first game on March 15th. Head coach and early childhood special education teacher Krista Miller said, “Our first game was on March 15th against Stover and ended in a loss of 0-8. We had a home game March 19th against Rogersville and again on March 22nd against Bolivar.”

One of the two girls soccer managers, Wes Hart added, “There will be 16 regular games played and they will also be attending two tournaments, one at Marshfield and one at Willard.” The maximum number of games a team can have during a season is 25 excluding district games.

The team has been practicing constantly. Christopher Haviland, a third grade elementary teacher and assistant coach to the high school boys and girls soccer teams said, “Practices are every day after school unless we have a game. They are from 4-6 each day.”

Miller added, “We begin each practice with our warm ups and agility, followed by some static stretching, now that games have started we do light conditioning with a ball, followed by are partner touches, a passing drill, small sided games and end with a scrimmage.”

The team has been putting in effort, with player Karlee Marion-Swan having said, “Personally, I try to work my hardest in practice and outside of it. I try to find different drills that Brooklyn Mauldin (11) and I can try to do in practice since we are both goalies this year. I try my best to work outside of practice to improve on things I’ve messed up in the past games.”

Marion-Swan also added, “I think that this season is going really well. The girls are really working hard in practice and you can really see that on the field. I love how everyone has a lot of positivity this year and really makes the team feel like just one big group of friends.”

Haviland stated, “I feel very optimistic about our season! We have a great group of returning girls and promising new talent as well.”

The Fair Grove High School Girls Soccer Team have already started playing their games and will have two tournaments later in the season. One will take place at Willard on April 12th and 13th and the other at Marshfield on April 19th and 20th.
