Kinsey Cook has been an athletic trainer for 10 years, four of those years she has been the athletic trainer at Fair Grove.
Cook explained that she originally wanted to become an athletic trainer because of her love for sports in general. “I knew I always wanted to be in the medical field so I was lucky enough to combine both athletics and medical field in the profession of Sports Medicine Athletic Training,” said Cook.
Cook described her favorite aspect of her job is the trust and relationships she builds with the coaches and athletes she works with. Cook added the difficult but important parts of her job. “… assisting them on what could be one of the worst days of their lives thus far if they sustain a significant injury and helping them get back to some of the best days of playing the sport they love.”
Cook stated she has many great memories as an athletic trainer. “… some of the most memorable have definitely been
traveling with all of the state teams and assisting those athletes to make school history at Fair Grove,” said Cook.
She continued, “I have also recently been accepted within the United States Olympic Committee to participate in their volunteer medical provider program which will start with a couple weeks stint at one of the Olympic training centers and then from there be added to a pool of medical providers who are available to provide care for Olympic athletes at events all over the country.”
Cook described that out of all of the locations she has worked at, from semi-professional athletes to collegiate athletes to other high schools, Cook’s favorite place to work has been Fair Grove.

Sofee Garrett (12) stated she believed Cook is a very smart and thoughtful trainer that Fair Grove is lucky to have. “After a game when I am hurting she will always ask if I’m doing ok because I moved differently or favored a side of my body that game. Kinsey noticing this helped me realize how [helpful] she is as our athletic trainer,” said Garett.
Gavin Brock (12) explained that Cook has done lots of hard work to ensure it is safe for him and his teammates to play. Brock said, “I appreciate her attention to players and situations. She makes injuries light hearted as she keeps her cool at all times, and she does a great job providing for all players.”
Damon Seiger, the Athletic Director and Vice Principal at Fair Grove High School, expressed, “Kinsey is a valued member in our school athletics program. Her attention to detail, compassion, and reliability make her one of the best trainers in the area.”
