Stranger Things, Season Five, Volume Two, released on Christmas day at 7:00 pm, with the finale dropping on New Years Eve at the same time.
I watched the second part the very minute it came out. I was super excited to watch the next three episodes in the show, as part one had a very good ending.
The second part had a lot of mixed reviews. I personally thought the second part was amazing, and I loved how much new information was fed to the audience. I thought that the episodes were really needed.
I loved the new character developments in this season. I really liked Derek and Holly’s characters, and I loved how Karen Wheeler became a fan favorite due to her role in saving Lucas, Max and Robin from the demogorgons.
I do, however, think that some parts were really forced and slow. The ending to the last episode of part two resulted in mixed opinions. Will’s controversial scene (if you don’t know what I’m referring to, you’ll have to watch it for yourself) could have had much better writing, and it felt like a forced and uncomfortable scene for the actors to make. The Duffer Brothers know how to write a scene like this, we saw that in season three with Robin and Steve. I understood what they were trying to do, but part of it fell flat since Will had minimal contributions to the fight with Vecna.
The finale was super hyped up by the fans, and many created their own theories for what they thought would happen. I feel like the finale could have been a lot better.
I liked how everyone moved on and had their own endings, but the finale also had a lot of plotholes and issues. The ending was completely rushed, and the final fight with Vecna happened way too quickly for my liking. I thought the writing was corny at times, but it has been that way throughout the whole show.
Plotholes filled the last season. There were no demogorgons or demobats in the end, everyone could suddenly breathe in the upside down now. The military just let the group go even though they ruined their entire operation, and it all just made the entire season kind of hard to understand.
I did however like the ending with Mike and Eleven. Finn Wolfhard’s acting was raw and emotional and I loved the ending between them. I like how the ending for Eleven is open and up for interpretation.
Overall this season was a great season in my opinion. I know a lot of people disagree, but I feel like they’re just mad that their theories were wrong. The season had a lot of good and a lot of bad things about it. It’s a bittersweet end and I can’t wait to see what spinoffs or extras The Duffer Brothers have in store for their fans.
