Ryan Highstreet has been the head boys soccer coach, assistant baseball coach, and middle school basketball coach for the Fair Grove Athletic programs for almost two years.
Highstreet has been a coach at many different places. He stated, “Parkview Baseball Coach, Drury University Baseball Coach here in Missouri. In California, I had coached numerous sports (baseball, softball, tennis, volleyball, and basketball) at a few different high schools including nationally acclaimed schools; Corona Centennial and Chino Hills.”
Highstreet has learned many things as a coach throughout the years. He explained that it is important for him to let go of his negative emotions, build relationships with players and parents, be fair and transparent, be consistent, and fundamentals can go a long way.
Head baseball coach, William Reed, explained that Highstreet is a witty individual who has a wealth of knowledge in sports and many areas outside of athletics. Reed stated, “Coach Highstreet is an experienced coach who has the ability to relate to players and coach them in various ways. He likes to challenge players both mentally and physically. This coach knows what type of motivation a player needs based on their personality and performance.”
Reed also described Highstreet as a reliable assistant coach. “I know he will push me to be a better coach, and will make the team as a whole better,” Reed continued, “I know I am biased, but I truly believe I have the best assistant coach in the state, and our success is due in large part to his impact.”
3rd grade teacher and assistant high school girls and boys soccer coach, Christopher Haviland, explained that Highstreet is a no-nonsense coach. Haviland explained that Highstreet is a hard working man who is very dedicated to his craft and his family.
Haviland also stated that with Highstreet as the head coach, he can see the boys soccer program growing and becoming better for years to come. He described that Highstreet will always push you to be the best that you can be. Haviland stated, “His high expectations allow for players to not be complacent.”
Highstreet wanted to add that he would not be able to be a coach as a career without his amazing wife. “The support and selflessness that she shows while I am putting in so many additional hours away from home taking care of our children and day to day duties.”
