Grant Fuller (12) is a senior athlete at Fair Grove High School who plays basketball, soccer, and golf all at a varsity level.
Fuller has attended Fair Grove his entire high school career and is in Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD), National Honor Society (NHS), and Pep Club. His favorite sport to play is basketball.
Fuller has played basketball for over 12 years. He said, “I have played basketball since I was four years old. I really started playing competitively when I turned 10 and have loved the sport ever since.”
On the court Fuller has been described as a dominant player and has played varsity basketball for two seasons, his junior and senior year. His teammate Jacob Shurtz (11) stated, “He plays point guard and runs the court like he’s been doing it his whole life.”
Shurtz also added, “Grant shows great leadership skills during basketball games whenever he’s on offense and defense. On offense he runs the court telling us where to go and what plays to run. On defense he tells us when to switch, when screens are coming and who should guard who.”
Throughout the years of playing basketball, Fuller has many memories he is fond of. Fuller stated, “My favorite basketball memory is probably when I hit a game winner vs Springfield Catholic my sophomore year, or when I scored 42 points in a game for my AAU/Travel Ball Team.”
Along with basketball Fuller also plays soccer and golf. Fuller said, “I started playing soccer my junior year so I’ve only played for two years. This was a sport I started playing just for the fun of it and to play with friends.”
Fuller played midfield and defense at a high level in soccer. Shurtz said, “He did a tremendous job every time he stepped on the field.”
Across all sports, Fuller has shown leadership traits. Shurtz stated, “I learned that being calm in stressful situations is key to being a good player much like him.”
After high school Fuller plans to attend college. Fuller said, “My plans after high school are to play college basketball or golf and get my degree in physical education so I can coach basketball and teach high school students.”
Fuller plays basketball, soccer, and golf at Fair Grove and plans to go to college to become a high school basketball coach. His love for sports has been pushed by his dad. Fuller said, “My dad is what has always driven me to play sports and be the best I can be. I feel that without him I would not be the person or player I am today.”
