The Fair Grove High School offers many different opportunities for students interested in agriculture, with the most popular of these options being the welding class. Fair Grove offers two welding classes that students can take second and fourth hour.
Makayla Piotrowski and Cole Johnston are the welding teacher, with Johnston teaching second hour and Piotrowski teaching fourth. Piotrowski stated that the best welders in her class are Logan Wilson (10) and Jackson Phelps (10).
These welding classes not only teach you how to weld but also teach you life skills and lessons about the real world. Wilson stated, “I think my welding class will help me tremendously learning different tools and different ways to use them. Ag is a great class to take. I highly recommend it.”
Piotrowski is the new AG teacher at Fair Grove. Dustin Tatum (10) explained his opinion about Piotrowski, “Piotrowski is pretty good about explaining stuff to us.”
Welding is important for students wanting to participate in something similar in the future. Phelps explained, “I do think that this class will help me in the future because I am going into the Airframe and Powerplant mechanics after high school and it has lots of welding in it.”
For many, welding opens a direct path to a well paying career and certifications for all. Tatum stated, “Welding is important because I do it a lot and I know how to do it but you can always improve and just like doing it.”
Welding teaches students many different things not offered in other classes. Wilson stated, “I learn a lot in these classes. Thanks to Johnston and Piotrowski pouring out their knowledge and making these classes very fun.”
