Mackynzi Sekulic (Kynzi) is a sophomore at Fair Grove High School who involves herself in many in and out of school activities. Despite this, she still maintains hard work and dedication to everything she’s devoted to.
Kynzi is involved in many activities at Fair Grove including, Track, FFA (Future Farmers of America), FTA (Future Teachers of America), First Priority, SADD (Student’s Against Destructive Decisions), and the Pep Club. Kynzi is also in an out of school gymnastics program.
Kynzi explained, “…I fell in love with it at the age of seven and have continued to do it since. I am currently at a level nine and when times get hard the only thing that inspires me to keep going is my amazing team, coaches, and support squad that will pick me up when I am down.”
Kasey Sekulic, Kynzi’s mother, is a middle school math teacher at Fair Grove. Kynzi expressed her opinion about her mother being in the same school, “Having a mom as a teacher is a blessing and a bit of a curse. While it is great to have access to her when I need to know something about my life outside of school, my mom is very good at keeping it fair for me as a teacher’s kid.”
Kasey explained how proud she is of Kynzi, “I am proud of Kynzi for many things. She is a high achiever academically and athletically, and has chosen a great group of friends with whom she surrounds herself.”
She continued, “Despite the many hours she spends in the gym, completing homework, and practicing for track and FFA, she prioritizes building her relationship with God, serving others, and participating in events that renew her faith and strengthen her spiritually.”
Anika Nyberg (10), a close friend of Kynzi, described Kynzi’s work ethic in and out of school, “Kynzi is always pushing herself so much! She keeps herself busy with gymnastics outside of school, and maintains a 4.0 GPA at school,” She added, “She is very intelligent, which comes handy when I need help with my homework!”
Kynzi brings her dedication, hard working attitude, and overall spirit to Fair Grove everyday. Kasey expressed, “She pours herself into everything she does, giving it her best effort. It is impressive how she can be involved in so many things, yet approach each and every one with maximum effort.”
