Brendan Carroll, the Fair Grove High School World History and Advanced American History teacher, is retiring at the end of the 2025-2026 school year after teaching for 25 years.
Carroll has been teaching at Fair Grove for 18 years. Besides being a teacher, Carroll is also a Fair Grove bus driver and former cross country and basketball coach.
Carroll explained his favorite thing about Fair Grove over the years he’s been teaching, “My favorite thing about Fair Grove is the students. Fair Grove has been a great community to work in – good people that care about each other.”
Carlen Lepold (12) explained the passion that Carroll has for teaching, “My favorite thing about Mr. Carroll’s class is his passion for it. Especially in my sophomore world history class. When he was teaching you could tell that the subject was something he liked to learn about as well as something he liked.”
Gavin Brock (12) added, “My favorite thing about Mr. Carroll’s class has been learning in depth some lesser known history of America. Mr. Carroll has a noticeable passion for his job and I love getting to listen to him talk about his passion.”
Lepold expressed her feelings about Carroll’s retirement, “I am sad that he is retiring, but it doesn’t bother me that much because I am leaving too. I couldn’t take him again anyway. I’m sad my sister can’t take him again though.”
Brock added, “I feel that every teacher eventually feels the need to retire. It is just a normal process that every teacher goes through. I am happy that during his career, I was able to learn from him.”
Carroll talked about his plans after retirement, “Professional basketball player, superhero, ultra-marathon runner, best-selling author, bodybuilder, international spy, Formula 1 driver, social media influencer, test pilot, safari guide – we’ll see what sticks. Some of those may be a little out of reach…”
For the past 18 years Carroll has been teaching at Fair Grove he’s continued to show his passion for teaching, demonstrating his love for the subject that has helped students learn for years.
