Ozark Technical Community College (OTC) offers over a hundred programs in fields including arts, science and business, technical education, and health sciences. In addition they work with high schools to organize scholarships.
OTC is a community college in Springfield, Missouri that offers connections through high schools for early college experience and teachings. They have offered these programs since their inception in Spring of 1990.
Hannah Bruner (12), participates in the Health Sciences program at OTC, and feels it students in a special way. Bruner said, “I feel that the biggest benefit of this program is that it provides students with a headstart into their healthcare career and education, while keeping the financial burden that comes with college and higher education to a minimum.”
The program provides opportunities for students to get closer to college. Caitlyn Wilson (12), a participant in the Health Science program, stated, “It is a great opportunity and gives me a head start in life. I’m getting college credits and lots of experience before I even finish high school.”
Some students decided they wanted to join fairly early on. Bryleigh Mays (12), another participant in the Health Sciences program, explained, “It was towards the end of sophomore year when I knew I wanted the amazing opportunity to join. A person who was in the program had talked to me about the benefits and what I could get out of doing the program.”
The program helps students launch themselves into their future and their career. Mays stated, “This program is the reason why I have a job that I actually enjoy. OTC gets you ready for jobs after school and a lot more experience than staying in the high school all day long.”
Bruner said, “I knew that being in this program would not only provide me with education, but would launch me into the healthcare industry and make a solid platform not only in exposure and finances, but also in experience.” Ozark Technical Community College also assists with multiple scholarship opportunities including the A+ Program.
Ozark Technical Community College has helped many students across the Ozarks find a career they enjoy and helped them to engage into their future plans.
