Fair Grove Middle School’s Kindness Club proves that a smile can go a long way. With 31 members, this organization works all year to host events and invent new ways to support school spirit.
Kindness Club is sponsored by Kristie Lepold, Fair Grove Middle School Councilor, and Annie Schieber, sixth grade math teacher. According to Lepold, Kindness Club meetings happen every Wednesday after school from 3:35 to 4:30pm. Students in grades five through eight can apply to join, though the group is mostly made up of fifth and sixth graders, who are excited and determined to make a difference.
The club recently elected its new officers: President, Emma Edwards (6), Vice President, Montgomery Harmon (6), and Treasurer, Evalynn Mallard (6). Together with their sponsors, they lead the club through projects that spread positivity throughout the entire school.
Each year the club hosts fundraisers to help fund the events put together for the school, including a butter braid sale in the fall and a laundry soap fundraiser in the spring. These events help to support the club’s projects that they host during the year. The events they hold include decorating the school for holidays, hosting pre-MAP (Missouri Assessment Program) testing celebrations, and organizing teacher and staff appreciation gifts. Lepold said, “We organize a lot of fun and meaningful events throughout the school year.”

The club is not just working within the school, but also throughout the community. Mallard stated, “My favorite thing we do throughout the year is adopting families through the Angel Tree.” She continued, “I love helping people in need and I love making people’s life a little better just with a little kindness.”
Edwards shared how being part of the Kindness Club has changed her outlook on life. “It’s made me different because it just changes you after hearing about kind things that other people did so then you do,” Edwards said. Her reflection shows how kindness inspires people, spreading through the school one action at a time.
The Fair Grove Middle School Kindness Club continues to prove that small acts of kindness can create a big change. Whether it’s decorating the halls, helping families in need, or simply including someone at lunch, these students are showing that compassion and service can make a lasting difference.
