Cheryl Kepes has been on the Fair Grove School Board for the past five years, and is currently serving as the board president.

Mike Bell, Fair Grove superintendent, explained the importance of Kepes’ position, “The role of board president is significant, as they typically serve as the leader and spokesperson for the school board.  Some of her responsibilities include: presiding over meetings, facilitating communications with the community, overseeing board operations, and promoting board unity.”

Kepes explained what she enjoyed about being part of the board, “I believe it is an honor to serve on the Fair Grove R-X School Board. The Fair Grove district and community is filled

with people devoted to promoting a positive, encouraging environment for students.” She added, “As a board member, it is rewarding and humbling to see on a regular basis the dedication teachers, staff, and administrators have for the continuous educational improvement and personal development of students.”

Outside of the Fair Grove School board Kepes works as an assistant editor for a national livestock magazine, as well as a contributing writer for a regional agricultural publication. Kepes also said, “I enjoy being outside every day caring for the cattle and soaking in the beauty of God’s creation.” She added, “I love spending time with my husband and our two daughters – no matter what we are doing if we are all together, I think it is wonderful.”

Rebecca Kepes (10) daughter of Cheryl Kepes, said, “ What I admire most about my mom is that she is incredibly driven. She is very passionate in everything that she does. I always look up to her because she has such an amazing work ethic and is always so kind and caring to everyone.”

Rebecca said her moms positive attributes are her empathy, her willingness to help someone in need, her uplifting attitude, her ability to persevere even when things become difficult. Rebecca enthused, “I’m very lucky that I have such an amazing role model to look up to.”

Bell added onto his appreciation for Kepes, “Mrs. Kepes demonstrates strong leadership, including the ability to inspire others, make difficult decisions, and lead by example.  I think what people appreciate most about Cheryl Kepes is that she is dedicated to serving the best interests of students, families, and the entire FGS community.”

Kepes’s hopes for the school board are executing a vision to enhance student achievement, preparing students for the future, recruiting and retaining excellent teachers and staff, updating facilities, technology and equipment, and creating a culture that promotes good character.
